CRABLANDS

Story Synopsis

In the late twenty-first century, humanity appears to survive ecological collapse behind colossal seawalls protecting Pacific megacities from giant crustacean creatures emerging nightly from the poisoned ocean.

Mira, a solitary hunter wandering the drowned outskirts of Neo Busan, navigates a world shaped by permanent catastrophe, where militarized architecture, synthetic food systems, and vertical cities have normalized coexistence with the sea-born threat.

Yet as the attacks become increasingly strange and ritualistic, she begins sensing an unsettling artificiality beneath the routines of urban life itself.

Descending beneath the city during a catastrophic breach, Mira discovers that humanity did not survive the collapse at all: the real population died decades earlier, while autonomous systems and synthetic citizens continue performing civilization endlessly inside sealed megacities.

The creatures outside the walls are not invaders, but the living world attempting to end a simulation too afraid to admit its own extinction.
